Building Location:  Ashurst, Blackrock

Description: Apartment remodelling, refurbishment and renovation

Project:

Originally designed to be a hotel, this building was converted into apartments. The project involved the complete remodelling, renovation and refurbishment of the existing space to suit client requirements.

The brief was to create a modern living environment in which the owners' collection of fine art could be shown to advantage. A minimal approach was taken using a combination of natural materials and clean lines. A feature wall designed to showcase the owners collection of paintings, sculpture and books. Whilst providing a natural focal point for the room, the wall acts to visually separate the open plan space into living and dining areas. A suspended ceiling was designed with a shadow gap for perimeter ambient lighting.

The interior featureing natural wood and smooth white painted plaster walls with modern furniture in combinations of glass, leather and chome creates an open, light, comfortable and inviting contemporary living space.

Architecture should speak
of its time and place,
but yearn for timelessness.
